Okay here’s a hint; NOT golf. That’s the week after, so just chill down and pace yourself. What’s going on next week is the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra’s annual fundraiser, “Symphony Under the Stars – Music of the Night,” an outdoor picnic held at Honey Horn Plantation April 3 & 4, 2012. So, if you’re fortunate enough to be staying at one of our luxury vacation rentals, this is an excellent time for families and a wonderful way to support a very worthy community arts organization. It’s also a great way to introduce the kids to a little culture in a comfortable, non-stuffy outdoors venue.
Many groups use the concert themes to inspire their choice of costumes, decorations, and menus while competing for a variety of prizes during the night. Some guests provide a full gourmet meal while others prefer simpler picnic fare such as fried chicken or deli foods. You may provide your own refreshments; however, wine, beer, soft drinks and water are available for sale by the League of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.

are the Presenting Sponsors. This year’s night is designed and led by Principal Guest Conductor, John Morris Russell. It includes Broadway music performed by the HHSO with soprano and tenor soloists. With a background as the Cincinnati Pops Conductor, Maestro Russell’s music choices will be sure to delight all ages and preferences. Guests will enjoy selections from Carmen, My Fair Lady, Cole Porter, West Side Story, including performances from guest artists, thrilling soprano Rebecca Flaherty and rousing tenor Allen Henderson.
Bring your own food and drinks, tables of ten will be set with cloths. Wine and beer will also be available for purchase, and parking is included in the ticket price of $64.50/person. Tickets are going fast and the first night is sold out already so Wednesday, 4/4/12 is all that is available at this point.
